About Jeff Dalton

I am a PhD student in Computer Science and a serious food geek.  In my spare time I hack food.  This blog documents my experiments, and what I had for dinner.  I use high-tech and molecular techniques to create new food experiences.  My cooking is hyperlocal and seasonal gastropub cuisine, comfort food elevated using modernist techniques.  I ♥ pork.

Watch me Compete on MasterChef Season 2 TONIGHT

Set your DVRs and tune in to the premier of Fox's MasterChef today, Monday, at 8pm. I am competing to be America's next MasterChef! For more on my cooking, read my modernist cooking blog, CookingPhD. Masterchef is cooking meets American Idol for amateur cooks. I was selected as one of 100 final contestants flown to LA out of 40,000 people that auditioned for the show. Watch me cook my signature dish for Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot, and Joe Bastianich. Here is quick promo video, with me searing my signature smoked duck at 2:11:

A bunch of the cast will be tweeting on #masterchef. The second part of the premier will air tomorrow, Tuesday at 8pm! (The episodes should also be on Hulu at some future date) Jeff, aka @cookingphd

Okay, first off let me say I love and respect Chef Ramsay and all his shows. I enjoy learning a lot from watching and listening to him. However, I am not a fan of the drama that takes place, but every "show" I guess needs it to keep the less intelligent entertained. Secondly and most importantly the reason why I am posting this comment is because I would like to make light of how arrogant and extremely unprofessional Max Kramer is. I bet my life and ever cent I saved and made from hard work (something he knows nothing about. Hard work is what makes a man or woman a real man or woman)in the hospitality industry that this spoiled rich kid will never win or become successful without his daddies money. It is truly sad how some individuals can be such pathetic jerks thinking they are entitled. He would never last in my kitchen. I look forward to the day he is eliminated. I know I am not the only one who thinks so including all of the contestants. aHahaha, he is such a joke.
